Our Key Staff
Garth King Director / Senior Broker
Garth commenced his insurance career in 2003 with Allianz in the commercial sector and held a senior position within the company managing a network of key insurance brokers within Victoria. In 2012 Garth joined a prominent broking firm where he managed a portfolio of commercial clients before deciding to move back to his home town of Brisbane to venture into his own business. He established Edge Insurance Services in 2014, with only four clients. With a commitment to growing a successful business with a focus on providing exceptional service and expert advice, he has grown Edge Insurance Services to where it is today, managing the insurance programs for over 450 loyal clients and employing four staff.
Garth prides himself in personally knowing each and every client that has an insurance program with Edge. Garth’s ability to form long and trusted relationships with his clients is the cornerstone to the success of Edge Insurance Services.
Sarah Valdivia Account Manager / Broker
Sarah started her career in the insurance industry in 2003, where she commenced her training and studies. After gaining experience in the broking side of insurance, Sarah moved across into an underwriting role within Suncorp where she progressed into a Senior Underwriter. Sarah joined Edge Insurance Services in July 2018, bringing 18 years of experience and knowledge in both underwriting and broking.
Kelly Taaffe Claims Officer
Kelly, who heads up our claims department, has worked in the motor trades industry for a major repairer for 18 years before joining Edge. Kelly comes with a wealth of knowledge around managing the claims process, dealing with major insurers and an exceptional customer service attitude. Kelly works tirelessly to drive positive outcomes for all our clients when managing their claims. Kelly’s extensive experience dealing with Assessors, insurers, repairers and customers has made her an invaluable part of our team. With her positive attitude and exceptional customer service skills, Kelly is a perfect fit for the team at Edge, that always puts their customers best interests first. Outside of work Kelly has 3 adult children and is a member of a running club. Kelly is up most mornings before the sun, pounding the pavement training for the next Marathon.
Ashley Pointer Account Manager / Broker
Ashley joined the insurance industry in 2012 as a small business and domestic broker.
Since then, she has grown her insurance knowledge and has thoroughly enjoyed handling the insurance needs of clients large and small.
Customer service is at the centre of Ashley’s approach, fitting with Edge Insurance Service’s values and principles.
She manages a varied portfolio of our clients across many industries.
